2002
12/11/02 Brian McNoldy csu-atmosBrian writes...I don't know if this counts, but I felt a need to tell someone. Monday afternoon, while waiting outside the ATS 3rd-floor supply room for the microwave, I was looking at the poster hanging on the wall across from Wayne Schubert's office and found myself singing "the best part of waking up is vorticity in your cup" to the Folgers tune. I chuckled and hoped no one was around to witness my moment of temporary insanity. There, it's out. I feel better already. We do too, Brian, and congratulations on being 2002's first WWW.

Subject: Thursday skate night!
Time for the last skate session of the the semester! Oh, no, you say,
I've got finals next week and I can't waste any time exercising! Never
fear! Study WHILE you skate:
1) Figure skater spins....Kelvin's theorem and Angular Momentum
conservation wraps into one! If you squint your eyes, you can almost
see the vortex tube stretch!
2) My skate leaves a thin trail of water on the ice...it must be
Clausius Clapeyron!
3) Boy, the ice sure is shiny, but it's more than just that...it's ice
albedo feeback!
So, you see, I'm sure you all can spare an hour and join us on the ice.
You'll be smarter and fitter because of it. See you there!
Fitter, probably. Smarter, maybe. In the presence of a Weather Weenie of the Week? Definitely. :)
